“All the beautiful sentiments in the world weigh less than a single lovely action” -James Russell Lowell

Six months ago an old, dear college friend found me on the Internet. We had lost touch almost twenty-five years ago.  It felt wonderful to reconnect and briefly catch up on what has transpired in each of our lives. Periodically he drops me a short email to tell me how much he appreciates my articles.

Yesterday, as I was sorting through my snail mail, there was a letter from him. Excitedly I tore open the envelope and inside was a generous gift and a lovely card simply stating he wished to contribute to the publishing of my ezine.

I nearly fell over. My eyes weld up with tears as I felt the impact of his “single lovely action”.

Action is powerful. It says to the world, “I’m ready to make a difference.” Action makes your dreams real. It takes them out of the realm of someday and moves you one step closer to what you really want or who you want to be. Action doesn’t have to be big; it can be one tiny step.

When was the last time you felt inspired to act but then let the moment pass? Whether it was saying, “I love you” to a dear one or picking up a business opportunity and running with it.

Mostly we choose not to act based on our fear.  Ask your self what you are afraid of. Is that fear real or imagined? Are there steps you could take to address the fear or let it go? How will you feel about yourself if you take the action? And more importantly, how will you feel if you don’t?

There comes a time to dream and there comes a time to act. My friend made the choice to act and the ripples are still being felt. Are you ready to make your life count with a single lovely action?

It’s YOUR life…imagine the possibilities!
